Seasonal Yoga Workshops
|
"Your biology is your biography." -- Carolyn Myss
|
Classical Yoga, like many ancient traditions, views the universe as a manifestation of multiple layers of Being, from the most sublime to the densest. The dimensions in Nature are constantly flowing through cycles along an evolutionary spiral, driven by pure consciousness.
Your mind and body is a field of consciousness. You, too, are constantly flowing through cycles along an evolutionary spiral. All cycles express in patterns that can be hard to see when immersed in them. Emotions can be produced by hormones, environmental conditions or they can be calling us to fulfill a higher purpose. It is only by developing the eye that witnesses the flow that we can know Truth.
When we tie our yoga practice to the rhythms of nature, we provide a ground from which we gain a renewed appreciation of our own rhythms. We develop a healthy body and well-being, which are the foundation of personal growth and self-actualization.
These workshops are modeled on the Taoist 5 Element Theory of five seasons; spring, summer, harvest season, fall and winter. In each season, a particular element and organ system predominates. Certain asanas work well with seasonal conditions to move us through chronic problems and stagnant patterns. Seasonal workshops also consider the effect of lunar phases and patterns that weave through the larger solar patterns of the seasons.
